ABOUT ROBERTA
I’m Roberta Rinaldi, a licensed clinical social worker in Westwood, California, with over forty years' experience.
I work with individuals and couples who are high-achieving, and already quite insightful. Many understand where their difficulties originate, yet still find themselves struggling with self-doubt, emotional reactivity, and conflict in their relationships.
My approach goes beyond insight, working directly with automatic nervous system responses shaped by early experiences. I integrate elements of ego-state therapy, EMDR, and somatic regulation to soften their impact, creating greater resilience under stress and more choice in how you respond.
This work is collaborative and attuned to you. It unfolds at a pace that respects both your readiness and the depth of what you’ve experienced.
BIPOC and LGBTQIA-allied.
PSYCHOTHERAPY approach
Ego state therapy helps to identify and nurture parts of the self that are stuck in past traumas, and that drive maladaptive feelings, thinking and behavior. EMDR reprocesses traumatic memories to reduce their emotional charge, while somatic regulation strategies calm the nervous system.
In couple therapy, we work to transform conflict into opportunities for growth by understanding how our childhood wounds influence relationship struggles. Practicing active listening, empathy, mirroring and assertive communication, we create emotional safety that fosters healing and connection.
